Burrito Boyz in tha hizouse! Pierre et Gilles

WHEN: February 1st, 2006, 7ish WHERE: Burrito Boyz (647-439-4065, 218 Adelaide Street West, Toronto), although we started off at the original Peter Street location but because of a lack of seating (actually no seating) we went to the other location which had 2 tables, a picnic bench and a counter (inadequate seating). This is food to go with a kitchen that stays open late. Take out for after clubbing a la Mr. Pong's. WHO: The usual plus this week's special Mangez guest star, Gilles WHAT: Burritos, did you really have to ask. Chicken and steak with the works, although I was intrigued by the halibut and I'm also very partial to just beans and cheese which I think of as a very satisfying comfort food fix. We had the large and they were massive. Personally, I find that the flavours in most burritos, despite the myriad of ingredients, tend to run together as they did here. That's not a complaint. It was a satisfying mess of textures with a scotch bonnet kick. Extremely hearty, cooked to order, what's not to love? WHY: This restaurant REALLY fits our mandate of fun filling food for 10 dollars or less. It's also a great example of the diversity that can be found in Toronto's bustling cheap eats scene. HOW: Accessible by subway when amended by a short walk.
3MMM
